Frequently asked questions

Our team is always happy to answer your questions over the phone or via email. To save you some time, we have answered some of the most common inquiries here.

How do I become a patient?

We always offer free consultations to help determine the best way to address your unique smile and bite. A very convenient way to start this process is by a virtual exam, where Dr. Bedrosian can see your teeth, smile and bite to begin a discussion on what treatment options are available. This would then be confirmed in person with a checkup and diagnostic photos/x-rays.

Is there paperwork to fill out?

If you could please complete your information ahead of time, it will help us get the most out of our initial consultation to determine what is best for your or your child, as well as expected insurance coverage and next steps. Please fill out the paperwork and return ahead of time if possible. Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, we accept almost all types of insurance with orthodontic benefits including Medicaid, Green Mountain Care, Dr. Dynasaur, and other standard dental insurance. We will help you check eligibility and benefits as it relates to your care, and help submit insurance claims.

Do you have payment options?

Yes, we will work on flexible payment options to meet your family's needs. We accept all major credit cards, savings plans, and work with Lending Club for variable payment options.

Do you treat adults?

Yes, we have lots of adult patients seeking to improve their smile, bite, or some other functional problem. We treat bite issues, jaw problems, and will help determine if orthodontics would help improve your oral health.

Do you use clear aligners or clear braces?

Yes, we use customized clear aligners and 3D printed clear brackets made individually for your teeth and bite. We will discuss your goals and orthodontic problems to help determine the best option for you and your lifestyle. Click here to begin a free virtual consultation with Dr. Bedrosian.

When should I bring my child for their first checkup?

Usually age 7 is best, unless their is a specific problem noted by your dentist. This will help determine if there are any jaw growth or tooth development issues for your child. We always take a conservative approach to early treatment and will discuss the pros/cons along the way.

Do you do palate expanders and treat breathing problems?

Yes we do. Palate expanders are an easy early treatment for children and can help jaw growth to improve crossbites, crowding, and impacting teeth. Palate expanders can be related to breathing issues, but not always. We will help determine with you and your physician how this relates to any sleep or breathing problems so we can be part of your team to improve your oral and general health.

When are you open, and do you have evening or weekend appointments?

We generally have appointments between 8am-5pm and are open on some saturdays. Popular times such as before work or after school are recommended to schedule ahead of time to ensure we can deliver the best care possible. Life is busy and if you need to reschedule, please call us so we can find the next available time that works for you.

What if I have an emergency?

Sometimes brackets come off, wires poke, or there is some other issue causing discomfort. We are happy to walk you through this on the phone or with a photo to determine how to make you comfortable, and to find a time to come in as soon as possible. Please call ahead of time so that we can prepare ahead of time to help you.

How do I eat and clean braces?

We will teach you how to clean around the braces and the foods you can enjoy while in treatment. Often most foods can be enjoyed (soft candy as a treat, Pirate's Booty popcorn), but very hard or chewy foods can break braces leading to emergencies and longer time in braces. At home cleaning is very important using a fluoride rinse (ACT), flossing (Platypus braces flossers), and brushing around the gums regularly to prevent stains or cavities.

Retainers: We make and repair all types of retainers.

We have generations of patients who are still using retainers from when they completed treatment, however they periodically need to be remade or repaired which would require a lab or repair fee. Give us a call and we will help keep your perfect smile for life!
